    Chief Signal Officer Message

Message of the Chief Signal Officer

I would like to talk about our shared journey, a journey of memory, a journey of values,  a journey of connection between past, present and future, a journey that we embarked years ago.

In 1937, with the establishment of the Haganah's Signal Service, the first foundations of the Corps were laid. On October 14, 1948, at the height of the War of Independence, the Signal Corps was established.

This is a long journey of generations, a joint journey of the families and the Corps, in which each station is a chapter in our memory and identity. Over the years, many thousands, the best members of Israeli society, have joined this march, carrying on their backs the mission of the Corps', the responsibility for  the IDF's digital center of gravity from the core to the operational end, a great responsibility that enables the IDF to develop into a technological army that competes powerfully with the complex environment in which we live.

On this journey, many stations were passed through where the heart was broken, but the spirit grew stronger, and in each of these stations, another chapter was written in the journey of all of us – a journey of sacrifice and faith, of pain and pride.

On this journey, the families walk with us – carrying the unbearable burden of loss, of longing for the dearest of all, and holding the burning torch of memory and love that turns loss into heritage, and heritage into hope.

Throughout the journey, 600 members of the Signal Corps fell, Israel's heroes who carried a great responsibility on their shoulders, thanks to whom we stand here today. The fallen soldiers are our heroes, and they are a source of inspiration for me and for all the soldiers and commanders of the Corps.

The commanders of the Signal Corps are obliged to remember, assist and support – this is our moral duty. We must make sure that you always feel embraced and loved, that you always know that you are not alone, and that we are here for you.

I keep in my heart the wish of my brothers and sisters in arms, who fell in Israel's wars, on the front and in the home front over the years and in the current campaign – all of them are Israel's heroes. Our joint journey, on which we embarked years ago, will never end, generation after generation, hand in hand, one family forever!

We will continue to nurture these values for the sake of future generations, for the sake of our children, for the security of the State of Israel!

May the memory of the 600 fallen be blessed and cherished in our hearts forever!

    BG Omer Cohen

    Chief Signal Officer
